Job description

About JAQUE

JAQUE is a luxury design firm specializing in high-end residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial environments across Arizona and select markets nationwide, including California, Florida, and Montana.

Projects range from luxury residential renovations to hospitality, retail, and commercial interior environments with a strong focus on interior architecture and technical project coordination.

Our company operates in a highly collaborative, design-driven environment where communication, organization, technical accuracy, adaptability, and execution all matter equally.

We are seeking an experienced Arizona-licensed architect to support technical project oversight, construction documentation, consultant coordination, permitting, and project delivery across a variety of project types.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced architect seeking flexible, meaningful involvement in high-end projects without the demands of running a firm.

Role Overview

The Senior Technical Architect / Architect of Record supports construction documentation, technical coordination, permitting, consultant management, and drawing review across multiple projects and jurisdictions.

This role works closely with the Founder, design team, and project management team to help maintain technical quality, organization, accountability, and steady project execution.

Projects are developed within BIM-based workflows and may involve coordination with consultants, contractors, municipalities, and local architects across multiple states.

This role is primarily focused on interior architecture, technical coordination, documentation, and project delivery associated with interior project scopes.

This is not a purely conceptual design role. We are looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of architecture, problem-solving, organization, and helping maintain structure and momentum throughout project execution.

  • Design Team
  • Project Management Team
  • Consultants & Engineers
  • Contractors & Municipalities
Core Responsibilities Construction Documentation & Technical Oversight
  • Produce, review, and oversee construction documents
  • Complete architectural redlines and revisions
  • Provide technical oversight and code compliance review
  • Assist in maintaining drawing standards, organization, and documentation quality
  • Support BIM-based coordination and documentation workflows
Consultant & Jurisdiction Coordination
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, contractors, and municipalities
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional coordination across multiple states
  • Review technical information for accuracy, constructability, and coordination
  • Help maintain project momentum and resolve technical issues efficiently
Project Execution & Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with design and project management teams throughout project execution
  • Support organization, accountability, and follow-through across active projects
  • Help identify technical gaps, coordination issues, or missing information proactively
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving throughout project development
What This Role Is Not

To ensure clarity, this role does not solely own:

  • Interior design direction or creative approvals
  • Client acquisition or business development
  • Independent oversight of all firm operations

This role works collaboratively with leadership, design, and project management teams to support technical execution and project delivery.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Is technically strong and detail-oriented
  • Enjoys organization, coordination, and technical execution
  • Remains calm, practical, and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Is collaborative and dependable
  • Can help maintain structure, accountability, and project momentum
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Is comfortable managing multiple moving projects simultaneously
  • Values follow-through, consistency, and professionalism
This Role May Not Be The Right Fit For Someone Who
  • Prefers highly siloed or heavily corporate environments
  • Is looking for a purely conceptual or design-only role
  • Dislikes collaboration, coordination, or technical problem-solving
  • Struggles with adaptability or shifting project priorities
  • Prefers slow-moving project environments with minimal collaboration
Qualifications
  • Active Arizona Architect License required
  • Ability to serve in an Architect of Record capacity preferred
  • 5+ years of architecture experience preferred
  • Strong experience with construction documents and permitting
  • Experience with residential, hospitality, retail, and/or commercial projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Experience with Revit, BIM workflows, and consultant coordination preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple active projects effectively

  • Flexible schedule and structure available for the right candidate
  • Approx. 30 hours per week
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
