Job description
To thrive in this position, candidates should be flexible, willing to learn, and able to collaborate not only within AMT but across all of Aviation. Maintaining current technical knowledge is also essential. Preference will be given to candidates who have strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and cooperation skills; who have experience with curriculum development, including FAR 147 curriculum requirements and development and delivery; who hold a current Inspection Authorization; who possess specialized field experience and/or education in areas such as NDI, composites, electronics, structural repair, etc.; and who demonstrate competence with computer hardware, commonly used software programs (such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications), and internet resources relevant to aviation and education.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Management, Engineering, Education or an appropriate related discipline
OR
A Baccalaureate Degree in an appropriate related discipline and two semesters (18 credits) of programmatic graduate study in an appropriate discipline
OR
A Baccalaureate Degree in an appropriate related discipline and five years of successful teaching and service in an appropriate FAA approved institution and professional aviation maintenance/leadership experience with advanced certification (i.e. IA, DME, NDI, or other appropriate industry certification).
A FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
Documentation of 2 years of full-time equivalent teaching OR a combination of 1 year of full time equivalent teaching plus 2 years of full time equivalent of maintaining type certified aircraft.
Position Details:
This position is located at the Aviation Technology Complex at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage, AK. This is a full-time, 9-month base, tenure-track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off (FTO), 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
