Roles & Responsibilities
The Data Migration Technical Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for leading large-scale enterprise data migration and modernization programs, including migration from on-premises, legacy platforms, or traditional data warehouses to modern cloud-based data platforms built on Databricks, dbt, Airflow, and AWS. The role combines program management, technical leadership, stakeholder management, risk governance, and delivery oversight to ensure successful migration of data, applications, and business processes.
• Lead end-to-end data migration and modernization programs across multiple business units.
• Define migration roadmap, milestones, release plans, and execution strategy.
• Establish governance frameworks, delivery standards, and project controls.
• Manage program budgets, timelines, resources, risks, and dependencies.
• Ensure successful execution of migration waves and cutover activities.
• Drive cross-functional coordination among business, architecture, development, QA, cloud, and operations teams.
• Develop comprehensive migration strategies for moving data from legacy platforms to AWS-based modern data architecture.
• Define migration approaches including: Lift-and-Shift ,Replat forming ,Reengineering, Data Modernization
• Build migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Conduct migration assessments and readiness reviews.
• Define migration success criteria and acceptance metrics.
• Lead implementation of Databricks-based Data Lakehouse architecture.
• Collaborate with architects to design scalable and secure data platforms.
• Drive migration of ETL/ELT workloads into Databricks.
• Establish performance tuning and optimization standards.
• Ensure utilization of:
• Delta Lake
o Unity Catalog
o Databricks Workflows
o Structured Streaming
o ML capabilities where applicable
• Review architecture decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Oversee creation and migration of business transformation logic into dbt models.
• Ensure lineage tracking and data quality validation.
• Drive adoption of CI/CD practices for dbt deployments.
• Lea d workflow orchestration and scheduling strategies using Apache Airflow.
• Ensure migration of batch and workflow dependencies from legacy schedulers to Airflow.
Define standards for:
o DAG development
o Monitoring
o Alerting
o Error handling
Salary Range- $110,000-$140,000 a year
