Job Title: Associate Technical Professional - Systems Engineering
Job Summary:
KBR is seeking an Associate Technical Professional - Systems Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance is required, which is something that only a US Citizen is eligible to obtain.
In this role, you will support the modernization and sustainment of the Satellite Communications Network (SCN), a global network of ground sites that enable critical satellite communications capabilities for U.S. Government missions. This position supports engineering efforts associated with the development, integration, testing, and deployment of system upgrades at sites located around the world.
This role is ideal for an early-career engineer interested in applying systems engineering principles to complex communications and space-related systems. The selected candidate will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full system life-cycle, including requirements development, system integration, verification testing, implementation planning, and field deployment activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the development, analysis, and management of system requirements for communications and infrastructure modernization projects.
  • Assist with system design activities and evaluation of subsystem interfaces to ensure successful integration across hardware, software, and network components.
  • Participate in system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance testing efforts.
  • Develop and execute test procedures, document results, and support resolution of technical issues discovered during testing.
  • Assist with implementation planning and deployment activities at operational SCN sites worldwide.
  • Prepare technical documentation including engineering reports, test plans, interface documentation, and presentation materials.
  • Analyze technical data and system performance metrics to support engineering recommendations and decision-making.
  • Coordinate with software, network, cybersecurity, and hardware engineering teams to support project execution.
  • Support technical reviews, project meetings, and customer engagements by providing status updates and engineering assessments.
  • Travel to domestic and international locations to support system installation, integration, testing, and commissioning activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, system integration processes, and technical problem solving.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-50% in support of field implementations and testing activities.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience or coursework involving Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
  • Knowledge of communications systems, satellite communications, or information systems.
  • Familiarity with orbital mechanics and space-based system concepts.
  • Basic programming experience (Python, C/C++, Java, or similar languages).
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity principles and secure system design.
  • Experience supporting laboratory testing, system integration, or engineering projects through academic, internship, or professional experience.
  • Familiarity with requirements management, test documentation, and systems engineering lifecycle processes.

Compensation:
  • For Colorado only, the salary range for this position is approximately $75,000 - $85,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Other Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
