What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Product Analyst, and why are they important?

To excel as a Technical Product Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of product lifecycle management, and typically a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like SQL, data visualization platforms (such as Tableau or Power BI), and requirements management systems is often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and stakeholder management skills help you bridge technical and business teams effectively. These competencies are crucial for translating business needs into technical solutions and ensuring successful product outcomes.

What is a Technical Product Analyst?

A Technical Product Analyst is a professional who analyzes product performance, gathers and interprets technical requirements, and works closely with development, product, and business teams to improve products or services. They use data analysis, market research, and user feedback to recommend enhancements and ensure the product meets both customer needs and technical standards. Technical Product Analysts often act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, helping to translate business objectives into actionable technical solutions.

Both roles require strong analytical skills but differ in technical depth and focus areas.

How does a Technical Product Analyst typically collaborate with engineering and product teams during the product development lifecycle?

Technical Product Analysts play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technical implementation. They work closely with product managers to define user stories and acceptance criteria, and collaborate with engineering teams to clarify technical specifications, resolve blockers, and ensure alignment with business goals. Regular participation in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning and backlog grooming, is common. This collaborative approach helps ensure that products are developed efficiently, meet user needs, and maintain high quality standards.

A Taste Of What You'll Do
Join Gallo as a Technical Product Manager who ensures our data products are built with engineering rigor and delivered on platforms that are scalable, performant, available, and observable. You will champion engineering excellence across teams, invest in tooling, patterns, and best practices, and make pragmatic tradeoffs that keep systems reliable while enabling fast-paced innovation.
You will set vision by translating business needs into technical direction, attract and retain top-tier engineers, and grow strong data engineering and site reliability teams. Recruiting, mentoring, and developing people through regular feedback are core to this role; you'll create an environment where diverse perspectives are valued and teammates are empowered to do their best work. You'll also build strong partnerships with business and technical leaders across Gallo to ensure alignment and measurable impact.
You are a people-first leader who balances humility with accountability. You give and receive feedback effectively, handle tough conversations with empathy and clarity, and de-escalate complex situations while advocating for the right technical investments. You communicate clearly to technical and executive audiences, delegate with strong context, and take pride in watching others exceed expectations.
You bring deep data and engineering experience: a track record implementing modern platforms in organizations transitioning from legacy or fragmented systems; strong SQL, API, AWS, and ETL pipeline design skills; familiarity with tools like Informatica IICS, Airflow, or similar; and hands-on programming in at least one major language. Experience with cloud data warehouses (Redshift / HANA), data modeling, orchestration, version control, distributed processing (Spark/Hadoop), streaming technologies (Kafka), and operating data at scale is expected. Foundational knowledge of AI/LLM operations, RAG, agentic AI workflows, and exposure to ML/MLOps is a plus. Experience with SAP data integration products, specifically SAP PI/PO for real-time orchestration and SAP BODS for enterprise-scale ETL.
If you're energized by building high-performing teams, improving platform resilience, and driving data-driven decisions at scale, we want to hear from you. Together, we'll continue to innovate and grow while creating opportunities for all.
