We are seeking a hands-on Facility Operator Assistant to help operate and maintain our Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility in Plattsburgh, NY safely and efficiently. Working alongside the RNG Facility Operations Manager, this role serves as a facilitator in directing the work of facility management, shift operators, assistant operators, maintenance personnel, and third-party contractors on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the RNG Facility Operations Manager on developing preventative maintenance schedule
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed, all staff are participating in ongoing safety briefings and trainings, and all safety incidents are reported and thoroughly debriefed to avoid preventable safety incidents
  • Actively participate in the development of safety protocols
  • Monitor facility equipment to detect operating defects and faults and develop plans for corrective action
  • Aid in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues with various equipment
  • Utilizes industry knowledge and experience, and leadership skills to make decisions regarding daily operations and management, and Technical Service functions for the RNG facility
  • With guidance and direction from the RNG Facility Operations Manager, may help to manage subordinate employees such as Drivers, Technicians, and Operators
  • Work closely with the RNG Facility Operations Manager to maintain open lines of communication regarding facilities operations
  • Works with the RNG Facility Operations Manager to coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and performing various maintenance activities

This position may be eligible for overtime pay based on business needs.

Extended and on-call hours are required at times to support business requirements, including some weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree, technical training, or certification in Operations, Maintenance, Mechanics, or a related field is preferred
  • Familiarity with RNG facility operation concepts, practices, equipment mechanical functionality, and procedures is preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn facility equipment, operating procedures, preventive maintenance practices, and safety requirements
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
