Role Description
As a Technical Operations Manager, you will ensure that network operations are reliable and efficient by monitoring network performance, performing planned maintenance, proactively identifying and repairing network difficulties, and responding to network connectivity issues. You will work to improve customer experience through vendor and production management and will lead testing, acceptance, last mile, and installation operations to bring Google Fiber to customers as quickly as possible. Additionally, you will perform critical tasks that maintain and improve network operations and will take the technical lead in ensuring a reliable and efficient operating network.
In this job, you'll:
  • Ensure network operations are reliable and efficient by monitoring network performance, performing planned maintenance, proactively identifying and repairing network difficulties, and responding to network connectivity issues.
  • Lead a team of contractors/vendors to refine and implement a program to efficiently test and accept new network elements such as: fiber optic plant, multi-tenant buildings and network equipment.
  • Support financial planning processes such as business forecasting, target setting, and CapEx/OpEx budget. Manage operations schedule, budgets, actual costs, and performance.
  • Facilitate a cross-functional program to identify common issues and develop solutions to eliminate future problems associated with network acceptance.
  • Analyze vendor performance and field data metrics, extract actionable insights, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage validation of supplier's build/test processes and ensure they are meeting Google requirements. Validate supplier product life cycle deliverables defined by Google and leverage industry quality standards.
  • Drive a quality culture that embraces both a "right the first time" and continuous learning approach that improves project efficiency and quality.

At a minimum, we would like you to:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, budgets on large-scale and multi-layered projects; and working comprehension of FTTH.
  • 5 years experience in the telecommunications or cable industry (one of the following areas: network operations, network construction and deployment, network architecture, network maintenance, customer installation, customer repair); OR 5 years of related experience in general construction management, engineering, and project management.
  • 5 years of experience in a vendor management role with customer-facing responsibilities.

It's preferred if you have:
  • 10 years of experience managing large scale projects and initiatives from start to finish.
  • 10 years of experience managing vendor relationships, account management, and performance evaluations.
  • PMP Certification.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $130,000- $143,000 + bonus + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
