Job description

GVI, Inc. seeks a Tech Writer I to provide document development on behalf of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Keyport. Responsibilities: * Document Support * Prepare technical manual revisions from existing Technical Manual (TM) source material and from government supplied change documentation. * Prepare new technical manuals from government and other contractors supplied source documentation that will be in the form of engineering drafts, engineering drawings, graphics, source material or similar describing technical manual input. * Edit and create Standardized General Markup Language (SGML) / Extensible Markup Language (XML) source text within Arbortext and Quicksilver. * Assist in updating and creating new revisions for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Implement updates to Undersea Weapons Department Directives. * Implement updates to base-wide Emergency Action Plans (EAPs). * Ensure new and legacy TMs adhere to style guide. * Perform Quality Assurance (QA) for TMs throughout redline lifecycle. * Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) of TMs to ensure accuracy of TM content. * Implement SME redlines quickly and accurately. * Maintain records and files of work as required. * Disseminate TMs/SOPs/EAPs locally and across the Fleet, as required. Requirements: * Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. * Knowledge of Navy technical manuals * Familiarity with Arbortext or other SGML/XML authoring platform. * Electronic Warfare system experience.
