Job description

The Technical Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, operation, and maintenance of the technical and production elements required to ensure a safe, engaging, and seamless experience for guests at Lighthouse Immersive Studios.


This is both a technical and supervisory role. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting daily venue operations while also overseeing the technical execution of special events, live theatrical events, venue activations, and rental opportunities.


The Technical Manager serves as the primary on-site point of contact for technical operations and works closely with Venue Management, Operations, Lighthouse Immersive Production, and Technical Support teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.


The Technical Manager reports to the Venue Manager.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for all venue technical operations and support, including urgent and emergency technical issues.
Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of venue production systems and technical equipment.
Maintain clean, organized, and secure server rooms, technical spaces, and equipment areas.
Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, cleaning supplies, expendables, and other materials required for daily technical operations and special events.
Coordinate the purchase and replenishment of technical materials and supplies, with all expenses subject to management approval.
Work with Venue Management to plan, coordinate, and execute the technical requirements for special events and venue activations.
Work with Venue Management and production teams to plan and execute the technical requirements for live theatrical events and other programmed experiences within the venue.
Support venue rentals by coordinating technical requirements and assisting with event setup, operation, and breakdown as needed.
Initiate damage and error reports and assist with the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of technical equipment.
Collaborate with Operations, Lighthouse Immersive Production, and Technical Support teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a time-sensitive environment.
Monitor technical systems and equipment to identify and address potential issues before they impact venue operations or the guest experience.
Ensure technical equipment and work areas are operated and maintained in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
Assist with the setup, testing, operation, and breakdown of audio, video, lighting, show-control, and related technical systems as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by Venue Management and/or Lighthouse Immersive Production.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working in live event production, entertainment, theatrical, immersive, or similar technical production environments.
Positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving is required.
Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
Strong organizational and hands-on technical skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Venue Management, Operations, Production, vendors, and other internal and external partners.
Flexibility to work daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as overtime and on-call periods as required.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
Ability to occasionally work at heights exceeding 20 feet.
Ability to safely use ladders and operate personnel lift equipment as required. Training may be provided.
Proficiency with Mac, iOS, and Windows operating environments.
Basic knowledge of IT systems and network topology, including show automation systems.
Working knowledge of technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of video, audio, and lighting equipment is strongly preferred.
Team-oriented, dependable, organized, professional, reliable, and punctual.


The Technical Manager position regularly requires evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work to support venue operations, events, and technical needs (based on a 40-hour workweek).
