DuPont is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support the Yerkes manufacturing facility in Buffalo, NY. This role provides critical mechanical and electrical engineering support to resolve plant issues impacting production. Partnering closely with Operations and Maintenance, you will serve as the technical expert driving equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in improving asset availability, supporting root cause investigations, and enhancing maintenance processes. This position reports to the Maintenance Area Leader.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead for diagnosing and resolving equipment and repair-related issues impacting plant performance
  • Direct maintenance resources during critical equipment setup and troubleshooting activities
  • Lead and support root cause investigations as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques
  • Develop, review, and improve maintenance procedures, job plans, and checklists; initiate Management of Change (MOC) when needed
  • Provide maintenance input and representation for capital projects and project activities
  • Define work scopes and collaborate with cross-functional subject matter experts to drive solutions
  • Develop turnaround scopes and support turnaround execution
  • Contribute to the Reliability Top Opportunity List and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance (MIQA) processes
  • Conduct regular field assessments to ensure equipment reliability and performance

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Engineering (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or related experience

Skills & Capabilities
  • Experience developing and reviewing technical procedures (SOPs, standard practices)
  • Working knowledge of SAP, including Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Understanding of risk assessment and maintenance performance metrics (cost, asset utilization)
  • Familiarity with Global Maintenance Work Processes (GMWP) and reliability frameworks
  • Strong skills in scope development and maintenance planning
  • Experience with root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies
  • Knowledge of maintenance and reliability systems
  • Ability to apply economic evaluation tools to decision-making
  • Understanding of reliability engineering principles (e.g., statistical analysis, reliability modeling)

Preferred:
  • Hydraulic system troubleshooting experience
  • Metering pump system troubleshooting experience
