Technical Program Manager

Also known as: Principal Consultant, Technical Delivery Manager, Technical Implementation Manager, Solution Delivery Manager

$155,000 – $175,000+ Security clearance increases compensation

10+ years required · Up to 20% travel

Our client would prefer this candidate to be located in the greater Washington DC area and work out of their McLean, VA HQ office 4 days a week.

About the Client

Our client is a publicly traded enterprise software company serving large corporations and government agencies. Their platform automates and orchestrates complex business processes, the kind that touch thousands of people, billions of transactions, and can't afford to fail. You'll be the one making sure implementations of that platform actually land inside client organizations, and that those clients come back for more.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Public Sector Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) to join their Customer Success team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of mission-critical solutions built on a leading low-code process automation platform for federal, state, and local government customers. You will serve as a trusted advisor and delivery leader, guiding government agencies through complex digital transformation and process automation initiatives.

This role covers the full picture: solution design, delivery leadership, client relationships, account growth, and executive engagement. It's a lot, and that's exactly what makes it interesting.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work alongside architects and solution designers to shape how the platform gets implemented. You don't build it, but you absolutely influence how it's designed and you're accountable for the outcome
  • Lead delivery end to end: scope, risk, team performance, timeline, and client satisfaction from first kickoff to go-live and beyond
  • Manage and deliver innovative platform solutions for federal, state, and local government clients, overseeing all aspects of agile delivery including risk management and impediment removal.
  • Partner closely with government stakeholders, contracting officers, and program managers to understand mission objectives and translate them into technology roadmaps.
  • Get deep inside client environments, understanding their existing systems, data flows, and technical constraints well enough to anticipate problems before they happen
  • Translate technical complexity into clear decisions for executive stakeholders, and translate business priorities back to delivery teams
  • Manage engagement financials, forecast accurately, and keep program health visible to the right people at the right time
  • Build genuine relationships with buyers, technical leads, and executive sponsors, the kind where they call you first when something new comes up
  • Partner with sales to develop account roadmaps, qualify opportunities, and build the business cases that move deals forward

The technical bar

  • Understand enterprise architecture well enough to spot a flawed design before it causes a problem in production
  • Know how enterprise systems talk to each other: APIs, data integration, workflow automation, ERP and CRM environments
  • Ask the right questions in a technical conversation and know when the answers don't add up
  • Credibly represent the solution to a client's IT leadership, not just the business side
  • Have enough depth to earn the respect of the engineers and architects on your team

What your background looks like

REQUIRED

  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field
  • 10+ years delivering enterprise technology engagements as an external consultant or implementation partner, not internal IT
  • Active U.S. security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
  • Demonstrated technical fluency in enterprise systems: integration architecture, data management, workflow/BPM, ERP, or CRM platforms
  • Track record of owning delivery outcomes, not just managing a plan, but being accountable when things go sideways
  • Experience building and presenting business cases to senior client leadership
  • Strong executive presence and comfort leading high-stakes conversations with C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong financial management skills, including P&L ownership, revenue forecasting, and contract financial reporting.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with low-code/no-code, Pega, ServiceNow, Salesforce Government Cloud, or similar enterprise platforms deployed in government environments.
  • Prior military service, DoD civilian experience, or experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) programs.
  • Familiarity with government-specific compliance and accreditation processes (ATO, STIG, CMMC, IL4/IL5/IL6).
  • Experience with value-based selling methods within government professional services contexts.

Why it's worth your time

  • Mission-critical work, the organizations using this platform are automating processes that can't fail
  • A platform with 25+ years of enterprise credibility, recognized by leading analysts as a category leader
  • More ownership than a consulting firm gives you, with direct access to leadership
  • Real comp upside tied to security clearance level, plus equity through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Mentorship, leadership development, tuition reimbursement, and a culture that takes growth seriously
