POSITION DESCRIPTION


POSITION:  IT TECHNICIAN

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Assistant Information Systems & Technology Director

SALARY:  Step Range: 19 ($23.92 hr.) - 38 ($41.94 hr.); Full Benefits

CLASSIFICATION:  Non-Management, Regular, Full-Time

LOCATION:  Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services

Klamath Falls, Oregon

Chiloquin, Oregon


POSITION OBJECTIVES

The IT Technician provides standard technical support, serving as a first point of contact for all IT-related support requests with a focus and priority on professional and high-quality customer service.

The role supports Microsoft 365, Windows OS, various cloud and on-premises applications, workstation lifecycle, asset management and tracking, and other modern IT operational processes.

The IT Technician collaborates with IST teams, contributes to IT processes, and ensures reliable IT support services across all KTHFS sites.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide technical support through in-person requests, remote tools, and ticketing systems, ensuring adherence to high level customer service.

2. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network peripherals, VoIP devices, and cloud-integrated services.

3. Perform workstation lifecycle management including provisioning, configuration, patch management, compliance policies, and decommissioning.

4. Support identity lifecycle tasks including onboarding, offboarding, access requests, MFA support, and group-role assignments.

5. Monitor and maintain endpoint security including antivirus, threat protections, and compliance baselines.

6. Assist with IT asset management, auditing, software license tracking, and lifecycle documentation.

7. Support IT operations projects, system upgrades, cloud migrations, and infrastructure improvements.

8. Provide user training and knowledge base documentation.

9. Ensure all IT operations adhere to HIPAA, privacy, and organizational security requirements.

10. The incumbent will be required to provide IT support at all Klamath Tribal Health and Family Services sites, in Klamath Falls, Chiloquin, Oregon and other areas within the Klamath Tribes services area (Klamath County) and will be required to drive either their own private vehicle or a GSA vehicle. 

11. The incumbent will be called upon to accomplish other tasks within their scope of work.

12. Like all employees of the Klamath Tribes, the incumbent will be called upon to accomplish other tasks that may not be directly related to this position, but are integral to the Klamath Tribes' broader functions, including but not limited to, assisting during Tribal sponsored cultural, traditional, or community events that enable the successful operation of programs and practices of The Klamath Tribes as aligned with The Klamath Tribes' Mission Statement. Some of these tasks may be scheduled outside of regular work hours, if necessary.


SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant IT Director who provides general guidance.

Works closely and collaboratively with the IST team. 

Exercises technical judgment and escalates complex issues as needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Ability to document work accurately and follow ITSM processes.

Self-motivating and ability to take initiative.

Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner

Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions and recommendations

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and adhere to the standards for health record-keeping, HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION

Minimum Qualifications: Failure to comply with minimum position requirements may result in termination of employment.

REQUIRED to possess a High School Diploma or Equivalent. (Must submit copy of diploma or transcripts with application.)

REQUIRED at least two years of demonstrated experience providing enterprise IT support or in a Computer Information Systems role.

REQUIRED 

REQUIRED demonstrated working knowledge of endpoint management, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows OS.

REQUIRED to understand the Zero Trust principles, role-base access control, MFA, and compliance policies.

REQUIRED demonstrated experience and ability to troubleshoot, update, and maintain hardware/software issues and support cloud-integrated systems.

REQUIRED demonstrated experience and knowledge of networking fundamentals and remote connectivity systems.

REQUIRED demonstrated knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and basic networking.

REQUIRED to submit to a background and character investigation, as per Tribal policy. Following hire must immediately report to Human Resource any citation, arrest, conviction for a misdemeanor or felony crime. Add to any position that will have contact with children

REQUIRED to submit to annual TB skin testing and adhere to KTHFS staff immunization policy in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control immunization recommendations for healthcare workers. (APPLICABLE TO ALL POSITIONS.)

REQUIRED to accept the responsibility of a mandatory reporter in accordance with the Klamath Tribes Juvenile Ordinance Title 2, Chapter 15.64 and General Council Resolution #2005 003, all Tribal staff are considered mandatory reporters.

REQUIRED to possess and maintain a valid Oregon Driver's License, (out of state applicants must receive ODL within 90 days of hire), have good driving record and be insurable by the Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services' vehicle insurance policy. Associate's Degree in Computer Science

Microsoft Certifications


Indian Preference:

Indian and Tribal Preference will apply, as per policy. (Must submit tribal documentation with application to qualify for Indian Preference).
