Job Overview
The Business Development Manager - US is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market presence for the Drilling Products business line across the United States. This role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, acquiring strategic customers, expanding into new market segments, and building a sustainable sales pipeline.
The Business Development Manager will own the front end of the customer acquisition process, including market development, lead generation, opportunity qualification, customer engagement, proposal development, and contract negotiation. Once accounts are established and transitioned into a stable customer relationship, ownership will be transferred to the Account Management team for ongoing growth and retention.
Success in this role will be measured by new customer acquisition, revenue generation, pipeline development, market penetration, and the ability to convert strategic opportunities into long-term business partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development & Revenue Growth
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within targeted US markets, industries, and customer segments.
  • Drive customer acquisition strategies to expand market share and increase revenue within the Drilling Products business line.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers, industry stakeholders, and prospective customers.
  • Own new revenue generation targets and contribute directly to commercial growth objectives.

Market Expansion & Pipeline Development
  • Identify emerging markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities through market intelligence and industry analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a strong qualified sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship building.
  • Research customer needs, competitive landscapes, and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Establish market entry strategies and support expansion initiatives across the US region.

Customer Acquisition & Commercial Development
  • Lead the full business development lifecycle from prospect identification through opportunity conversion.
  • Engage customers to understand business challenges and develop tailored solutions that address their operational needs.
  • Lead customer presentations, technical discussions, proposal development, and commercial negotiations.
  • Build credibility and trust with customers through strong industry knowledge and consultative selling.

Product Growth & Market Feedback
  • Support growth initiatives for targeted drilling products through focused customer engagement and market development activities.
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights to support product improvements, innovation, and future product strategies.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align solutions with evolving customer requirements.

Tender Management & Contract Negotiation
  • Manage preparation and submission of proposals, bids, tenders, and commercial documentation.
  • Lead contract discussions and negotiations to secure profitable and sustainable agreements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure commercial commitments align with operational capabilities.

Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Account Management, Operations, Engineering, Product Development, and Leadership teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Support smooth customer onboarding and transition of newly established accounts to Account Managers.
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure customer expectations are met throughout the sales process.

Reporting & Performance Management
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity tracking, and CRM records.
  • Provide regular updates on pipeline development, market activity, competitive intelligence, and sales performance.
  • Track key business development metrics and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.

Physical & Environmental Conditions
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based with frequent travel to customer locations, industrial sites, and industry events.
  • Travel: Approximately 50% travel required, including domestic travel across the US and occasional international travel.
  • Field Exposure: Experience or comfort working in industrial environments such as drilling operations, workshops, manufacturing facilities, and remote customer sites.
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 10-15 kg) may be required.
