Title: Design Manager 

Location: Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Texas

We are looking for a Design Manager who will be the primary point of contact for the design portion of design-build transportation projects. This role is responsible for managing the design process from procurement through final design, coordinating between internal technical teams, contractors, and clients. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, technical design experience, and a deep understanding of the design-build delivery model.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design development for large-scale transportation infrastructure projects, particularly in a design-build environment.
  • Serve as the main liaison between internal design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Manage design schedules, deliverables, and quality control processes to meet project milestones.
  • Oversee and coordinate work of multi-disciplinary design teams including roadway, structures, drainage, traffic, utilities, and environmental.
  • Participate in proposal development and support pursuit strategies for new design-build opportunities.
  • Monitor budgets, design scope, and change management throughout the life of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with agency standards and project requirements.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented project culture.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering, with at least 4 years in a design management or lead design role.
  • Proven experience managing design for design-build or alternative delivery projects.
  • Strong understanding of DOT standards and permitting processes.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
