Job description

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We are seeking a Manager, IT Systems to join our IT team. This role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec). If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to be in office a minimum of two days per week for our Anchor Days.

What your team does:

The IT Systems team at Clio operates at the intersection of emerging technology and operational scale. We lean into a modern tech stack, experimenting with novel solutions to solve complex problems. Our mission is to eliminate friction-replacing tedious manual tasks with robust, scalable automation frameworks. We have a high degree of autonomy to shape strategy and influence the technical culture of the broader organization. If you want to build systems that meaningfully improve how thousands of people work every day, you've found your team.

In this role, you'll lead a team of integration and automation engineers who eliminate friction across Clio. You'll own the technical roadmap, set standards for how we design and deliver integrations, and partner with teams organization-wide to identify where automation creates the most value. This role calls for someone who thinks strategically about where the team is headed while staying close enough to the work to set a strong technical bar. You'll be the primary people leader for IT Systems' integrations and automation function - hiring, developing, and retaining a high-performing team that builds the internal platform Clio runs on.

What you'll work on:
  • Own and drive the technical roadmap for IT Systems integrations and automation-identifying where we can eliminate manual work, reduce operational risk, and accelerate the velocity of Clions across the globe.

  • Partner with teams and departments across the organization to understand their bottlenecks and pain points, translating them into well-scoped automation and integration projects.

  • Set and maintain the technical standards for how the team builds: code quality, GitOps practices, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and reliable service delivery.

  • Serve as a key escalation point and technical sounding board for your team as they design and implement complex integrations across SaaS platforms, internal services, and custom-built solutions.

  • Manage vendor relationships for the tools your team owns and depends on, including procurement, renewals, security reviews, and contract escalations.

  • Collaborate closely with other IT leads-Services and beyond-to ensure consistent delivery and a cohesive experience for Clio employees globally.

  • Contribute to department-level planning, headcount strategy, and budgeting for the IT Systems function.

  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of integrations and automation engineers, creating an environment where your team does their best work through coaching, feedback, and clear expectations.

What you bring:
  • Proven experience leading a team of systems, platform, or integration engineers in a technical people management role.

  • Hands-on background in IT systems engineering or development-you understand how integrations, automation pipelines, and SaaS administration actually work, and can set a credible technical bar for your team.

  • Familiarity with MDM platforms (FleetDM, Kandji, InTune) and endpoint management concepts.

  • Practical familiarity with the tooling your team will own: iPaaS platforms (Workato, Okta Workflows, or similar), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), cloud infrastructure (AWS), and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Buildkite).

  • Experience administering and integrating core SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, and others common in a modern enterprise environment.

  • Comfort working across API standards (REST, GraphQL) and authentication mechanisms-enough to guide technical design and review your team's work meaningfully.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills: you know how to build trust with stakeholders outside IT, translate ambiguous problems into well-defined projects, and communicate progress clearly.

  • Experience with hiring, performance coaching, and developing engineers at different levels of seniority.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational discipline-you can set a roadmap and also ensure your team ships reliably.

Serious bonus points if you have:
  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company where the pace of change demanded rapid iteration and strong prioritization.

  • Experience contributing to or leading a migration, consolidation, or integration effort at a company that has undergone an acquisition or significant organizational change.

This is a new role.

What you will find here:

Compensation is one of the main components of Clio's Total Rewards Program. We have developed a series of programs and processes to ensure we are creating fair and competitive pay practices that form the foundation of our human and high-performing culture.

Some highlights of our Total Rewards program include:

  • Competitive, equitable salary with top-tier health benefits, dental, and vision insurance

  • Hybrid work environment, with expectation for local Clions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, London, New York City and Sydney) to be in office min. twice per week.

  • Flexible time off policy, with an encouraged 20 days off per year.

  • $2000 annual counseling benefit

  • RRSP matching and RESP contribution

  • Clioversary recognition program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years

The expected salary range* for this role is $151,600 to $189,400 to $227,200 CAD. There are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.

*Our salary bands are designed to reflect the range of skills and experience needed for the position and to allow room for growth at Clio. For experienced individuals, we typically hire at or around the midpoint of the band. The top portion of the salary band is reserved for employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. Those who are new to the role may join below the midpoint and develop their skills over time. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
