Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Specification Writer - Level 3 to join our team in Chandler, AZ.
The Specification writer edits and formats technical data for use in documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications to ensure they are prepared in accordance with complex contract, government, and company standards. This effort is required for classified and unclassified documents.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
  • Perform word processing and editing of documents with Data Managers, other Word Processors, and program engineers to ensure on-time delivery of data.
  • Perform document workflow tasks using Project LifeCycle Management (PLM) tools to support change management, release, and contractual delivery of program documentation to the customer.
  • Incorporate contractually prescribed markings for managing, sharing, safeguarding, and disseminating technical documents.
  • Conduct DM Review of classified and unclassified engineering analyses.
  • Process new and revised Forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
  • Comprehensive experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Tech Writing and Tools, Procedural Writing/Editing proficiency
  • Experience with Change/File Management (PLM) Tools
  • Must have ability to obtain U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical writing skills and tools, procedural writing, and editing experience
  • Ability to use a broad range of software applications and conversion tools to access and integrate technical documentation. Software includes Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teamcenter, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of document structure, familiarity with large documents and presentations, templates, styles, table of contents, etc.
  • Very accurate and consistent work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Accepts DM issue challenges and applies learned skills and problem solving techniques to assess and drive towards DM solutions
  • Understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and industry best practices for Configuration Data Management. This includes the five fundamental elements (pillars) of CM per EIA-649 when performing Data Management activities
  • Program Interface/ Communication
  • Experience with a Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) tool such as Teamcenter
  • Soft skills include attention to detail, communication, problem solving and judgement, teamwork, and high quality results
  • Candidate will support data management of program documentation
  • The successful candidate will possess a focus on attention to detail with technical writing and proficiency with Microsoft Office M365 and Adobe Acrobat
  • Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy

Primary Level Salary Range: $48,400.00 - $80,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
