The Role

As the Head of Mortgage Capital Markets at Neo Financial, you will be a leader and pivotal member of the team. You will report to the VP Capital Markets, and be responsible for defining and executing a funding strategy to continue scaling Neo’s mortgage business. This is a hands‑on role that requires a leader who is passionate about combining technical skills with building.

What you’ll be doing

Own Neo’s Funding Strategy:

  • Develop and maintain best execution (“economics”) playbook as it pertains to mortgage sales among Neo’s investors.
  • Responsible for allocation of committed and funded mortgages to Neo’s investors.
  • Lead all new lending programs, including strategy and product development.
  • Develop and maintain Neo’s mortgage policies (e.g. capital management, hedging, leverage).

Oversee Neo’s Funding Structure & Execution:

  • Design and guide team to oversee daily funding, ensuring robust operational and cash controls and scalable structure.
  • Handle all CMB and MBS allocation amongst Neo’s investors in accordance with Neo’s approved policies.
  • Fully knowledgeable regarding the eligibility criteria pertaining to Neo’s investors.
  • Fully knowledgeable about all aspects of the MBS program guide produced by CMHC pursuant to the National Housing Act. Maintain and communicate all program guide updates to interested parties at Neo.
  • Track MBS and CMB spreads and update best execution as required.
  • Manage all mortgage buy backs including developing a strategy to liquidate buybacks for maximum profit.
  • Direct all hedging activities pertaining to funded mortgages prior to sale.
  • Main liaison between Neo and all mortgage insurers.
  • Arrange for bulk insurance of mortgage portfolios.

  • A proven track record of excelling in a fast‑paced, technical environment, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience at a Canadian financial institution.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; CFA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: You have strong diagnostic skills and a data‑driven mindset, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies and a tangible business impact.
  • Adaptability: You demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in a dynamic work environment where priorities can shift rapidly.
