Job description

Tech Talent International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US and Europe.

We currently have a role as a Network Engineer with our large consulting client on a long term project with a major financial services client in the downtown Montreal area.

This role can either be a fulltime, perm role or a long term C2C contract.

Role: Cybersecurity - Network Engineer

Type: Permanent or Contract 40 hrs/week

Location: Hybrid - Downtown Montreal, QC -(roles starts off 5 days in office for 1st 3 months, then turns into hybrid setup 3 days onsite, 2 days from home)

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 + 9% bonus + 3-5 weeks paid vacation + RRSP contribution + benefits + sick/personal days

Contract Rate Option: $100 - $105/hr C2C

On-Call Info:ย 6pm to 6am, for 1 weeks, every 16 weeks

Job Description:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation,supportand management ofย  networks across datacenter, campus and WAN environments. Engineer candidates should have a well-rounded background in all Network technologies, have a strong understanding of network functions and fundamentals and have experience in complex multi-vendor network infrastructures.

The Network Engineer must possessan understanding of complex combinations of infrastructure technologies and operating systems and be able to design and implementand supportnetworksolutions.

For specific L3 roles, engineers must have high level understanding and experience with financial markets and technologies including multicast and low-latencyplatforms and designs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Perform 2nd, 3rd level support for the corporate Wifi,LAN, MAN and WAN Infrastructureper function

Work with production project management,architecture and application support groups to gather network requirementsย to design and deploy network infrastructures in support of application, business and infra teams.

Work with ITP Infrastructure engineering and support teams for troubleshooting complex,cross platform issues.

Follow ITPguidelines for using Service Management and NMS platforms for monitoring, alerting and incident tracking.

Follow ITP guidelines for asset and configuration management standards.

Follow ITP Governance to ensure standard practices are followed within the team, including security, and other corporate IT policiesand procedures.

Closely link with his or her counterparts to ensure definition and strict adherence to technology standardsdefined locally and globally

Designand implement new or improve existing networks basedon project guidelines

Proactively review environment andrecommend projects based oncapacity monitoring, resiliency levels, prior expertise, hardware knowledge and risk assessment.

Participate in On-Call rotation schedule for after-hours escalation through life of project

Exercise proficiency with ITP Policies and Procedures

Required Skillsets and experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology,or relevant/equivalentIT/Networking experience.

Experience and understanding of multiple operating systems, NMS and automation tools and platforms including but not limited to Zabbix, Service Now, HP Network Automation, Windows, LINUX, Ansible, PYTHON

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Graphs, VLOOKUP, Pivot tables).

Detailed-oriented and organized.

Ability to work independently and as a part of a cross-functional global team.

Strong understanding of network concepts - TCP/IP and UDP, network ports and protocols, IP addressing and subnetting

Strong troubleshooting using packet captures (Wireshark/tcpdump), telemetry, and logging

Thorough understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and a detailed knowledge of networking technologies including Metro Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM, TDM

Thorough understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF,IS-IS, MPLS,VXLAN,DHCP and DNS

Detailed understanding of IP Multicast, PIM, IGMP and MSDP

Working experience with optical systems specifically ADVA supporting 10G, 40G, 100G and FC

Detailed knowledge of Cisco products including the Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms, Cisco ISR and ASR routing platforms and Juniper EX switches

Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.

Strong communication to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.

Ability to work under pressure during marketcritical incidents.
