Job description

Who are we?

Cohere is the leading security-first enterprise AI company. We build cutting-edge foundation AI models and end-to-end products that are designed to solve real-world business problems.

Weโ€™re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that.

We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft.

We are a global technology company co-headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, with key offices in London, New York City, Montreal, Seoul, Germany and Paris. Join us!

Why this role?

Cohere has a strong AI narrative, the most deployable product, and a CEO who co-authored the foundational paper of modern AI. The company is positioned to become the transatlantic leader in sovereign AI for enterprise and government, and needs a storytelling engine to deliver that story at scale. This role sits within the team that is building that engine.

This is an opportunity to define the narratives that influence how enterprises, developers, and the broader ecosystem understand the future of AI and Cohereโ€™s role in building it. In this crossโ€‘functional, individualโ€‘contributor role, youโ€™ll partner deeply with product, research, engineering, and goโ€‘toโ€‘market teams to translate complex technical work into clear, compelling stories. Youโ€™ll help Cohere articulate what weโ€™re building, why it matters, and how our technology is reshaping enterprise AI. Youโ€™ll craft narratives that resonate with technical and nonโ€‘technical audiences alike, and build programs that elevate Cohereโ€™s product leadership and technical credibility.

This is a rare opportunity to build a product and technology communications function at a fast-growing company in the most dynamic space in technology. This is a role for someone who takes great joy at distilling technically complex ideas into mainstream messages that can be understood by all media globally.

As Product & Technology Communications Manager, you will:

  • Develop product and technology communications strategies that support Cohereโ€™s business goals, product roadmap, and technical differentiation

  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and modeling leaders to craft messaging, narratives, and materials that explain Cohereโ€™s technology in accessible, high-impact ways

  • Lead communications around product launches, including messaging frameworks, FAQs, press releases, and executive talking points

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling content for customers, partners, analysts, and media

  • Collaborate with corporate comms to drive proactive storytelling that elevates Cohereโ€™s technical leadership and product momentum

  • Work closely with marketing to ensure consistency across product marketing, developer content, and external communications

  • Support thought leadership for product, research, and modeling executives

  • Use qualitative and quantitative insights to refine messaging and understand what resonates with technical audiences

  • Prepare and support crisis and issues communications related to product, security, or technical incidents, partnering with Corporate Communications and relevant teams

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have 5โ€“7 years of experience in product and technology communications, or technical content โ€” ideally in AI, enterprise software, or developerโ€‘focused environments

  • Are an exceptional writer with a talent for simplifying complex technical topics without losing nuance

  • Have experience partnering with product and engineering leaders and can operate as a trusted advisor

  • Understand enterprise AI, machine learning, or developer ecosystems and are eager to go deeper

  • Are highly organized and detailโ€‘oriented with strong project management skills and a bias for action

  • Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrive in fastโ€‘moving, highโ€‘growth environments

  • Have experience with product launches, technical content development, or developerโ€‘focused communications

  • Build strong crossโ€‘functional relationships to drive clarity, consistency, and alignment across teams Cohere is committed to fair and transparent pay practices. The salary range listed for this role reflects the expected base compensation. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, jobโ€‘related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
