Who will you be working with?

Wabtec employees at the Grove City location operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. Our Wabtec Grove City Engine Remanufacturing facility includes highly sophisticated and automated machine tools and production processes, enhanced by skilled and experienced Wabtec Grove City employees.

How will you make a difference?

Tear Down employees will operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance.ย  The Tear Down role requires detail-oriented individuals with a focus on safety, who can perform high quality work in various hands-on operations reconditioning components for reassembly into engines.ย  Our customers are reliant upon our engines to achieve a 20+ year lifespan.ย 

    What will your typical day look like?

    • Disassemble diesel engines and components to the individual part level
    • Operate high pressure hydraulic tooling systems, hand tools, air tools, and cutting tools; along with various blasting and washing equipment
    • Move and distribute parts and materials using cranes, jitneys, and/or other company vehicles
    • Execute various material handing tasks including component/part inspection, labeling, organizing and stocking
    • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
    • Collect quality data and record the results of work performed
    • Adhere to all safety and attendance rules, shop regulations, and equipment requirements
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, housekeeping assignments and all other duties as assigned

    What about the physical demands of the job?

    • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (Example: safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and steel-toed boots)
    • Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and using hand tools
    • Must be able to work in a tobacco free environment

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

    The starting hourly rate of this position is $23.10

    Qualifications

    What do we want to know about you?

    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience, generally equivalent to around three (3) years
    • Ability to work on any shift, scheduled overtime and occasional weekends as necessary

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior manufacturing experience
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
    • Knowledge of basic hand tools
    • Automotive or mechanical experience
    • Experience in the operation of overhead cranes and safe lifting procedures
    • Prior forklift operation experience
