Job description

Teaching in a Catholic school means to participate in the teaching mission of Christ. As Jesus came to witness to the love of His Father, so our Catholic School teachers witness to that love and assist their students to discover and grow in His love. You will find that substituting in a Catholic school holds many benefits for you.

The faith communities in our schools assist a person who is new to teaching or returning to the profession. Catholic applicants must be practicing Catholics living a life consistent with Church teachings. This position is for Catholic schools in the Indiana cities of South Bend, Elkhart, Goshen, Granger, Mishawaka, and Plymouth.

Qualifications: Possess a valid Indiana Educator License or Substitute Permit You may apply for a substitute permit through the state prior to starting this application; however, you must be hired through the Diocese before the substitute permit can be verified by the school corporation. During the School Year: As designated by the requesting school, if and when contacted to serve as a substitute teacher. Outside of the Regular School Year: None.

Compensation: Substitute Teacher Pay Scale: Licensed or Retired Teacher-$125.00 Per Day/$75.00 Half Day. High School Diploma and Valid Substitute Permit-$100.00 Per Day/$60.00 Half Day. Long-Term Substitute Teacher (30 Days or more in the same assignment): Licensed or Retired Teacher-Diocesan Teacher's Pay Scale-Based on verified years of experience

High School Diploma and Valid Substitute Permit-Introductory Salary of the Diocesan Teacher's Pay Scale Duties: All substitute teaching duties assigned by the requesting Diocesan school. Only those who have completed the application process and have been placed on the approved Diocesan Substitute Teacher list are eligible for work/pay as substitute teacher in the Diocese.
