Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement or equivalent)
- Previous experience teaching in a self-contained classroom is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement them effectively
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and support professionals
- An adaptive, creative approach to classroom management and instruction
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with students’ unique goals and IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet varying needs and learning styles
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers
- Create a supportive classroom culture that encourages academic, behavioral, and social growth
