Job description

Make a difference every day by supporting a dedicated 2nd-grade student with Autism in a dynamic school setting near Harvest, AL. This contract paraprofessional role offers the opportunity to use your ASL skills to foster communication and meaningful growth for one student, while working within a supportive educational environment. Your commitment and expertise will help create an inclusive and successful classroom experience.

Qualifications:

  • Active ASL credential or certification required
  • Demonstrated experience working with children or students, preferably with Autism
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to the unique needs of a 2nd-grade learner
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative attitude

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to a 2nd grade student, promoting engagement and learning
  • Support the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and classroom participation
  • Use ASL to facilitate communication, comprehension, and social interaction
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and special education staff to implement effective strategies
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing environment tailored to the student's needs
  • Document progress and report regularly to educational team members as required

This position begins as soon as possible and runs through May 21, 2027. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, ensuring consistency and meaningful connections with your student.
