Overview
TRC is seeking a senior level construction inspector to support our Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) office in Nashville, TN.
The Senior Construction Inspector is responsible for overseeing and verifying roadway and structural construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulatory standards. This role supports projects throughout the Nashville area and requires a strong understanding of transportation infrastructure, including highways, bridges, and related structures.
Responsibilities
  • Performing daily field inspections.
  • Coordinating with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor the contractor's on-site construction activities to verify compliance with plans, specifications and special provisions for the construction contract.
  • Maintain detailed records of the contractor's daily operations and events that affect the work and project schedule. A daily work report (DWR) must be recorded with TDOT's DWR programs. Must be familiar with TDOT standard forms and procedures.
  • Perform sampling and testing of component materials and completed work in accordance with the construction contract and TDOT Standard-Operating-Procedures. Samples must be taken and recorded using TDOT LIMS and standard forms.
  • Capable of performing work independently and accurately.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent and experience in roadway and/or structural construction inspection along with relevant certifications (such as NICET, ACI, or TDOT certifications).
  • Five years of experience in heavy construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of materials testing, construction methods, and inspection procedures is required.
  • The following certifications are highly desirable or must be able to satisfactorily obtain post-hire:
    • 10-Hour OSHA Construction Safety
    • Work-Zone Traffic Control/Flagging Certification
    • TDOT Concrete Field Technician (Alternately, ACI Grade 1)
    • TDOT Aggregate Technician
    • Additional TDOT Technician Certifications are desirable but not mandatory

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
