Job description

What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors 

As a Transportation Engineer-in-Training, you will play an integral role in designing roadway and transportation projects that support community growth and mobility across the region. You will collaborate closely with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and people-focused infrastructure solutions. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in transportation design while learning from experienced professionals across multiple disciplines.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of transportation engineering designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadways, intersections, and multimodal facilities.
  • Perform design calculations for geometric layout, pavement design, drainage, traffic control, and safety improvements.
  • Support the development of project documentation including reports, technical memoranda, and bid documents.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including TDOT, municipalities, and contractors to coordinate project needs.
  • Stay current with transportation engineering standards, tools, and technologies to support high-quality project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Strong interest in transportation engineering, roadway design, and traffic operations.
  • Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to pursuing professional development and eventual PE licensure.
