TCN stands for Temporary Contract Nurse. TCNs are registered nurses who are hired on a short-term, contractual basis to fill staffing gaps in hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare facilities. Their assignments can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on the healthcare organization's needs. TCNs perform many of the same duties as permanent nurses, such as patient care, administering medication, and collaborating with medical teams, but usually do not have the same long-term employment benefits. This role offers flexibility and can provide valuable experience in various clinical settings.
