Position Summary
Grupo Bimbo is seeking a Vice President of Tax for the United States and Canada to lead all aspects of the income tax function across these regions. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for U.S. and international tax planning, compliance, reporting, transfer pricing, tax accounting, and controversy management.
The role requires close collaboration with Grupo Bimbo's Vice President of Worldwide Tax, as well as legal, treasury, finance, and business leaders across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Success in this role depends on strong leadership, executive communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a in-office environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of U.S. and Canadian income tax operations, including planning, compliance, reporting, and audits.
  • Provide strategic tax advice on complex matters including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, IRC Sections 385 and 163(j), tax treaties, reorganizations, restructuring and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Identify emerging tax issues, assess potential impacts to the organization and communicate to senior management.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Grupo Bimbo's business model and strategy to proactively support business initiatives.

Compliance, Reporting & Accounting
  • Oversee all income and non-income tax filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
  • Manage outsourced tax compliance providers and external advisors.
  • Prepare and oversee the quarterly and annual effective tax rate, including uncertain tax positions under IFRIC 23 and application of IAS 12.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to support efficient and compliant annual reporting.
  • Supervise the sales and use function including tax filings, resale certificates compliance and audits,
  • Supervise unclaimed property compliance.
  • Oversee the R&D tax credit process.

International & Transfer Pricing
  • Lead international tax planning including foreign tax credits, cross-border structuring, repatriation of earnings, treaty analysis, and export incentives.
  • Oversee transfer pricing strategy, documentation, and benchmarking in coordination with external advisors.
  • Advise on global cash distributions and intercompany cash movements from a tax perspective.

Audit, Risk & Governance
  • Manage U.S. federal, state, and Canadian tax audits and other tax controversies.
  • Establish and maintain SOX-compliant tax processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Perform and direct tax research; prepare and review technical tax memoranda and executive-level communications.
  • Clearly communicate complex tax concepts and recommendations to non-tax executives and business leaders.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in taxation or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in public accounting and a multinational corporate tax department.
  • Extensive experience with U.S. and international tax operations in a global organization.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. international tax rules and cross-border transactions.
  • Experience managing tax audits and tax controversy matters.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • CPA and/or advanced degree in Taxation
  • Experience supporting large consumer products or manufacturing organizations
  • Prior leadership of multi-country tax functions
