Position Overview

The Tax Analyst assists with all aspects of CrossCountry Mortgageโ€™s (CCM) federal, state, and local tax compliance and accounting functions. This role is responsible for preparing, researching, documenting, advising on tax matters, and ensuring CCM remains in compliance in all jurisdictions. The Tax Analyst partners closely with the broader Tax, Accounting, Finance, and business teams along with external service providers to ensure complete and accurate tax returns, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns /reports and supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provision calculations under ASC 740 through the preparation of tax workpapers, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for financial reporting.
  • Assist with tax account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare indirect tax returns and supporting workpapers, including sales and use, business personal property, and gross receipts tax returns in numerous tax jurisdictions.
  • Prepare monthly taxable income calculations, quarterly estimated tax payments, and member tax distributions.
  • Assist with tax audits, analyze tax correspondence, and resolve outstanding tax issues in tax jurisdictions.
  • Monitor new and pending tax legislation and document the tax implications for CCM.
  • Research and document tax technical matters relevant to CCM.
  • Support applicable administrative tasks, tax planning projects, team initiatives, process improvements, automation, and special projects, as requested by leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Master of Taxation and/or CPA certification, preferred.
  • 1+ years of tax, accounting, or financial analysis experience, preferably in financial services, mortgage banking, or a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with tax compliance software, tax provision software and ERP systems, preferred.
  • Experience with ASC 740, preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Skilled in effectively organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Skilled in communicating clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and success meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
