Job Description
SUMMARY
Performs a variety of duties in and around the plant, including the warehouse, tank farm, and gas station, with a strong focus on safe operations and regulatory compliance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Open and close the tank farm and other facilities in accordance with plant procedures.
• Conduct daily inspections of the tank farm and gas station to ensure conditions are safe and properly maintained.
• Complete daily inspection sheets and report required repairs.
• Inspect the tank farm containment dike daily for water level and quality; drain water as required and record the procedure on the daily inspection form.
• Gauge all tanks for fuel depth, water depth, and temperature; record readings in the gauge book monthly.
• Perform inter-tank transfers within the tank farm.
• Deliver packaged lubricants (lube oils) to customers and company sites as needed.
• Operate a forklift safely (or demonstrate willingness to learn and become qualified) to load, unload, and move materials and packaged lubricants.
• Perform monthly tank sump inspections; log all results.
Perform monthly inspections of all spill equipment.
• Maintain the plant, tank farm, gas station, and company-leased assets and surrounding facilities, as needed
Keep the terminal tank farm, gas station, shops, and general areas clean and free of debris.
• Clean and maintain gas station dispensers and surrounding areas to include emptying garbage cans daily and in accordance with site procedures.
• Perform pressure washing of facilities, pads, and equipment as needed to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Wash company trucks and equipment as needed.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks including weed eating/trimming around buildings, tanks, and fences as needed.
• Perform snow plowing during winter months, which may require an early start.
• Run parts and supplies as needed to support the terminal, tank farm, and gas station operations.
• Assist with other operations as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be willing to work overtime when necessary and respond to callouts or emergencies immediately.
Requires professionalism, whereby you exercise courteous and positive internal and external customer service skills as a representative of Shoreside Petroleum, Inc. This includes the ability to remain calm under pressure and to solve problems analytically.
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous warehouse, yard, or plant experience and a good working knowledge of the petroleum distribution or related industry.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License.
  • Ability to work directly with petroleum products.
  • Preferred CDL with Hazmat endorsement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write and effectively communicate utilizing standard Company forms. Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers and vendors to facilitate problem resolutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, and push/pull up to 350 lbs with a pallet jack and/or assistance. Must be able to operate a hand truck with heavy inventory (typically packaged lubricants, including pallets of 4-8 five-gallon containers or a 55-gallon drum of lube oil). Must be able to operate a forklift. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform moderately strenuous physical work. Must be able to operate company vehicles and use a computer, telephone, and other general office equipment. Work may require walking primarily on level surfaces and occasionally on graded surfaces throughout the day. Must be able to reach above shoulder height, reach below the waist, and lift as needed to move product. Proper lifting techniques are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves work in industrial environments and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including appropriate footwear, safety glasses with side shields, and mandatory hearing protection. Work areas may include exposure to hazardous chemicals, fumes, and petroleum by-products. The role also requires the ability to work outdoors in the elements for extended periods.
