Job description

United Talent Staffing is hiring a dependable, hardworking Utility Laborer for a local public water company. This hands-on position is ideal for someone with construction, utility, excavation, or outdoor labor experience who is comfortable working in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing water lines.
  • Locate areas where damaged pipes may be causing leaks or service disruptions.
  • Remove, replace, and install water meters.
  • Troubleshoot older or damaged water meters.
  • Read meters and accurately record water-usage information.
  • Inspect and monitor storage tanks to verify water levels.
  • Perform flagging and traffic-control duties as needed.
  • Travel to different service areas based on operational needs.
  • Keep assigned company vehicles, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures and work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Respond to emergency water line breaks, leaks, and service disruptions as required.
  • Perform other utility-related duties as assigned.
Pay and Schedule
  • $15.00–$17.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
  • On-Call Rotation: One weekend per month
  • On-Call Compensation: Two paid hours on Saturday and two paid hours on Sunday, regardless of whether a call-out occurs
Emergency-response availability is a condition of employment. Water system emergencies can occur at any time. Employees may be required to report to work outside their normal schedule, even when they are not assigned to on-call duty that week.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Previous water line, utility, construction, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Flagging or traffic-control experience is a plus.
  • Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Willingness to travel between service areas.
  • Ability to respond to emergency call-outs when needed.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, instructions, and company policies.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a field environment.
