Job description

Role Summary:


The Director of Talent & Leadership Development serves on our executive team as a forward thinking-

partner and guardian of the critical success factor, growing our people to grow the business. The


director's first responsibility is to the operator and must have ability to develop a collaborative team

of high-performing leaders who have complementary functional skills and creative strengths. This

director is responsible for processes in both recruiting leaders and talent, conducting interviews,

background checks, assigning positions, clarifying roles, setting compensation and evaluating and

rewarding performance. This individual ensures a winning team providing direction and leadership,

managing recruiters of talent and working with directors in order to serve the needs of the restaurant.

Assembles a team that produces world-class service through continuous improvement. Is responsible

for ensuring the organization meets its ambitious goals for increasing the quality and diversity of

team members while remaining four-deep.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Co-create with operator the long-term vision for leadership and talent development


Leads with Vision and Purpose: Communicates a compelling and inspired vision and sense of com-

mon purpose. Talks about possibilities beyond today. Create milestones and symbols to rally support.


Serve as talent development advisor to Operator so the business can grow & compete successfully

Leads the recruitment, selection, on-going development, support, compensation, director level

bonus, employee benefits, and performance evaluation of exceptional team members

Identifying, designing, and implementing new recruitment strategies that yield a diverse, applicant

pool for available positions (to include web and social media)

Create compelling and accurate job descriptions clarifying roles for all positions

Build a Leadership Development Annual Plan and Budget

focus on the key priorities for the business today and for the future

Include training, coaching, mentoring, planning, growth, reward & recognition

goal is to develop high-performing world class restaurant teams

build leadership curriculum to achieve the annual plan

Provide leaders with development opportunities they need to perform and enhance their careers

Create IDP's for executive leadership and senior leadership

Drive the continuous improvement process

Assign action plans/projects to leaders coaching them to

Review progress at key milestones

Intervene if needed to remove obstacles

Keep projects on track

Provide HPLT support and coaching to other Operators upon request

Build effective relationships with operator, directors, leaders to:

understand the talent development initiatives

to share learning and best/next practices

create alignment and support for change and growth

Coaches leadership to facilitate effective meetings

Drive the development and execution of the market-wide collaborative Beyond Seminar Event

Plan and execute the Annual Employee Awards & Service Recognition Banquet

Plan and execute Annual Executive Leadership Retreat

Engage in regular best practice visits to other restaurants and Chick-fil-A University

Attends Leadership Training forums (Catalyst, Leadercast, Willow Creek Summit)

Meet weekly with Executive Leadership Team as strategic partner

Communicate improvement ideas to Operator/Field Consultant/corporate office
