Job description

Georgia Military College announces an opening for a Full-Time Assistant TAC Officer. The Assistant TAC Officer supports the safety, security, and daily operations of the Corps of Cadets by providing overnight supervision, enforcing standards, and responding to cadet needs. This role ensures a structured and disciplined living environment while contributing to cadet development, accountability, and overall well-being. The position also supports recruiting and onboarding efforts by assisting with prospective cadet engagement and integration into the Corps.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide overnight supervision of cadet living areas to ensure safety, security, and good order, including monitoring Baugh Barracks, enforcing standards in accordance with the GMC Cadet Guide, and maintaining visible presence within cadet spaces.
  • Respond to and manage cadet incidents including medical, disciplinary, and security-related situations, ensuring appropriate escalation, documentation, and coordination with campus officials.
  • Maintain cadet accountability and records, including formations, tracking of physical fitness scores, community service hours, awards, and other cadet performance data.
  • Support cadet development through informal counseling, mentorship, and daily interaction, reinforcing standards, encouraging academic success, and modeling expected behavior.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of cadet programs and events, including awards ceremonies, recognition programs, and Corps activities.
  • Assist cadet recruiting and onboarding efforts by participating in campus tours, recruiting events, and engagement with prospective cadets and families, while assisting with new cadet orientation and integration.
  • Represent the Corps of Cadets through professional conduct and adherence to standards, including proper wear of the uniform and participation in assigned duties and activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of Corps operations, recruiting, and institutional priorities.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiar with living within a structured environment requiring accountability, discipline, and leadership oversight, for example military, law enforcement, experience, residential life, or similar.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to mentor and manage cadets in routine and high-stress situations.
  • Ability to respond to emergency, disciplinary, and security incidents with sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data entry/reporting systems.
  • Prepared to work overnight hours (Wednesday-Sunday, 10PM-5AM) and wear the Assistant TAC Officer uniform while on duty.

Preferred:

  • CPR certified
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Prior military service
  • NCO or Drill Sergeant Leadership experience, or equivalent type of leadership in a civilian position /role.
  • Experience working with young adults in a structured or residential environment.
