Job description

Are you an experienced HVAC Technician looking to take the next step in your career? Do you enjoy troubleshooting complex systems and want to expand your skill set beyond traditional HVAC service? Benchmark Automation & Controls is looking for a skilled HVAC professional with 5+ years of experience who is ready to make the transition into the exciting world of Building Automation and Controls (BAS).
This is a great opportunity for an experienced HVAC technician who understands mechanical systems and wants to develop expertise in controls, automation, and smart building technology.
What You'll Do:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and service building automation and HVAC control systems
  • Apply your HVAC knowledge to diagnose issues between mechanical equipment and control systems
  • Assist with programming, calibration, and commissioning of BAS systems
  • Read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, and control sequences
  • Work with customers, project teams, and technicians to resolve system issues
  • Perform point-to-point testing, startup, and system verification
  • Learn industry-leading BAS technologies through hands-on experience and training

What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of HVAC service or installation experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, VAVs, chillers, boilers, and related equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical components, sensors, thermostats, and HVAC equipment
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and desire to learn building automation and controls technology
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with HVAC controls, BAS, or automation systems
  • Electrical background or experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems
  • Familiarity with HVAC sequences of operation
  • Experience with brands such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Carrier, or similar systems
