Job description

Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst (Decision Support Analyst)
Facility: McLaren Health Care Corporate
Location: Grand Blanc, MI (Hybrid – occasionally come in-office)
Duration: Permanent (FTE) 
Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000/year (based on experience and education)

Position Overview:
McLaren Health Care is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its corporate Decision Support team. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide high-level financial and operational analysis to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in healthcare finance, strong data skills (including SQL and Tableau), and a strategic mindset focused on cost accounting and proforma development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex financial and statistical analyses to assess the operational and financial impacts of proposed management decisions.
  • Deliver analytical support using diverse data sources; interpret findings to guide strategic planning and operations.
  • Develop proposals and identify program opportunities for improvement and cost control.
  • Prepare and assist with strategic, operational, and cost-related studies.
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy in all reporting activities.
  • Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and analytical tools.
  • Work independently with large datasets to provide actionable insights.

Required Qualifications (Must be clearly met for submission):
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field
    Required for standard qualification pathway
    If a Bachelor’s degree is NOT held, the candidate must meet the 10-year experience threshold described below
OR
  • Ten (10) years of experience in healthcare finance or financial analysis
    – Required in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
    – Experience must include:
    • Working with hospital clinical/claims and financial data
    • Managing and analyzing large healthcare datasets
    • Conducting data extraction and financial reporting
    • Proficiency in data tools including SQL, Access, and Excel

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in healthcare financial analysis or healthcare finance, including:
    • Demonstrated experience with:
      • Hospital claims and clinical data
      • Financial performance reporting
      • Identifying cost-saving opportunities
      • Use of large data sets for decision-making
    • Proven ability to perform:
      • Cost accounting or cost modeling
      • Complex financial modeling and forecasting
      • Proforma development for new programs or services
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
    – Must be able to handle data manipulation, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and multi-source integration
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration
  • 1+ year of experience in healthcare contract management or reimbursement systems
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies
  • Strongly Preferred:
    • Proficiency in SQL and Tableau
    • Cost accounting and proforma experience (Highly Preferred)

Additional Notes:
  • HYBRID work model available – Local candidates preferred for occasional in-office work.
  • No weekends or on-call responsibilities.
