Work Location: South San Francisco & San Mateo, CA
Work Schedule: Onsite – 5 Days per Week (No Remote Work)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tableau Application Analyst to support the implementation and adoption of Tableau within the Environmental Health Services (EHS) department. The selected consultant will serve as the Tableau subject matter expert (SME), providing technical guidance, application support, end-user training, and knowledge transfer throughout the implementation period.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role requiring strong Tableau expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into effective reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Tableau Subject Matter Expert (SME) during the initial Tableau rollout within Environmental Health Services (EHS).
  • Provide Tableau best practices and recommend reporting solutions based on business requirements.
  • Deliver ongoing Tableau application support throughout the engagement.
  • Train super users, business analysts, and end users to ensure successful knowledge transfer.
  • Prepare and submit daily project status reports to Health IT Leadership.
  • Collaborate with departmental business analysts on daily work assignments.
  • Gather reporting requirements through meetings conducted via Microsoft Teams or in person.
  • Develop user guides, training documentation, and reference materials.
  • Conduct instructor-led and hands-on Tableau training sessions.
  • Troubleshoot Tableau dashboards, data connections, and publishing issues.
  • Document recurring issues and establish a knowledge base to support future operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience designing, publishing, and troubleshooting Tableau dashboards.
  • Experience training business users or supporting Tableau adoption initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Tableau data connections and reporting best practices.
  • Experience working with Salesforce data for reporting and analytics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience working within structured business environments, preferably government or public sector.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce reporting and data integration experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Tableau implementations.
  • Previous experience working with local government agencies or public sector organizations.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence reporting standards and data governance practices.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline; or
