JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Tableau administrator to manage and optimize our Tableau Cloud environment as a member of our Data Enablement team. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless operations, provide expert support to business users, and work closely with IT and analytics teams to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining user/group access, monitoring logs and metrics, managing data access controls (including the use of entitlement tables for AWS Athena or data warehouse integrations), and ensuring optimal performance of Tableau jobs and resources. You will also develop and train on best practices for dashboard creation, data curation, troubleshooting, and support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration & Maintenance

  • Configure, and maintain Tableau Online environments.
  • Monitor server performance, manage resource allocation, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability.
  • Work with Tableau support to resolve any issues as needed

User & Data Management

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and data security settings.
  • Oversee the publishing, organization, and maintenance of dashboards and reports.
  • Ensure that data sources are properly connected, refreshed, and secured.
  • Implement data access controls within Tableau, including the use of entitlement tables from AWS Athena or other data warehouse solutions.
  • Work with business users to understand reporting needs and provide tailored Tableau solutions.
  • Provide training and technical support to end users, helping them to maximize Tableau capabilities.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to integrate Tableau with data warehouses and other business systems.

Performance Optimization

  • Analyze and optimize dashboard performance and query efficiency.
  • Monitor Tableau jobs and resources, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Implement best practices for data visualization and reporting within Tableau.

Documentation & Best Practices

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including configuration guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for Tableau usage and governance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience administrating Tableau environments, with a focus on Tableau Cloud or a similar role managing BI tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Online.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and SQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and their data services.
  • Familiarity with tabcmd and/or TabPy
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, and/or Tableau REST API
  • Familiarity with Tableau Bridge
  • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA, HANA 2.0, ECC, BPC, and/or Webi is a bonus
