Job description

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Saw Operator at our Wellsville, PA location. The Saw Operator cuts extrusions to cut length and tolerances per EPICS, Pennex Drawings, and customer requirements.  Inspects length and angularity of cut pieces per work instructions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repetitively lifts aluminum extrusions of various lengths from metal carriers to saw in-feed table. 
  • Sets up saw to cut pieces to desired specifications. 
  • Ensures  all cuts are made to meet customer specifications and tolerances.  Takes measurements and enters data into SPC database per work instructions. 
  • Verifies the number of cuts per length is in accordance to the EPICS work order and/or print.
  • Gathers all material needed for framing bundles, such as but not limited to: tape, stretch wrap, cardboard, paper, and banding.
  • Visually inspects metal while forming bundles, Inspects metal for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles,  and die lines.  Ensures all pieces meet or exceed customer specifications.  When material is questionable, contact Foreman, Supervisor or QA Inspector for review and/or approval. 
  • Assembles bundles per part specific work instructions utilizing packing materials to meet customer specifications. 
  • Records the appropriate order, piece count,  and weight in EPICS System. 
  • Carries scrap metal to scrap cart. 
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area iand assists with general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair.  Assists with general housekeeping of the Shipping area. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

  • High School diploma or the equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Experience with machine operation in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available. 
  • Regular attendance required.
