Title: Field Technician (1099 Contractor)

Reports To: Business Contact


ROLE SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Deployment Technician will upgrade parking meters across downtown Minneapolis. This role is responsible for replacing a small internal piece of the meter machine and conducting testing on the equipment afterwards. Project is scheduled to begin July 2026 and anticipated until early Fall 2026, working Monday โ€“ Friday outdoors up to 8 hours a day. Hours are flexible and are dependent on when the keys will be administered to allow access to the parking meters and city hours.


This is aโ€ฏ1099 contractor role, on call as needed. All travel expenses will be paid for, aside from, per diem.

Pay: $225.00 per day.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Basic hand tool experience (screwdrivers, small hardware).
  • Track and log the completed meters each day.
  • Reliable and able to follow instructions.
  • Attention to detail for testing and logging work.
  • Ability to manage and return keys daily (unless otherwise arranged).


MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES

  • Previous field technician or maintenance technician is preferred.
  • Experience working with parking meters or similar equipment is preferred.
  • Experience documenting all levels of service activities and ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication to provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to execute work independently as well as collaborating with team members.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain necessary access and security clearances.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • A valid and unrestricted driver's license, at the time of employment, is required.
  • No major traffic violations within the past 10 years (e.g., DUI, reckless driving, suspended license).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain necessary access and security clearances, including but not limited to State Driverโ€™s Licenses, TSA/UEP clearances, and Federal security clearances relevant to your project.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to use small hand tools.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and walking between meter locations.
  • Requires long periods of driving, standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
  • Requires manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects.

  • Work is typically performed outside and in a variety of office environments including exposure to heat, cold, and/or air particles such as dust.
