Position Summary

Lead the Future of Community Healthcare

We areseekingan experienced and mission-driven Primary Care Medical Director to provide clinical leadership for our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). In this role, you will collaborate with organizational leadership to oversee medical operations, ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, support provider development, and advance strategic initiatives that improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

The Primary Care Medical Director plays a critical role in shaping clinical practice standards, driving quality improvement efforts, and fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and patient-centered care - with a steady focus on expanding access to high-quality care for underserved communities.

What You'll Do

Clinical Leadership & Provider Management

  • Championhigh-quality, patient-centered care that expands access for underserved and vulnerable populations.

  • Recruit, interview, andassistin theselectionof medical providers.

  • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations for medical staff.

  • Oversee provider schedules, call coverage, and leave coordination.

  • Support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development activities.

  • Ensure medical services are effectively integrated within the organization's comprehensive care model.

  • Facilitate provider meetings and encourage collaboration among clinical teams.

  • Conduct or delegate regular medical record reviews to ensure quality care and documentation compliance.

  • Provide oversight and supervision of Advanced Practice Providers, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as applicable.

  • Serve as a clinical resourcetoproviders and interdisciplinary teams.

Administrative Leadership

  • Develop, review, and approve medical policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.

  • Monitor healthcare trends, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

  • Participate in strategic planning, goal development, and organizational initiatives.

  • Review clinical service agreements and patient care contracts.

  • Serve as a liaison between medical staff and organizational leadership.

  • Represent the organization at hospitals, professional associations, community organizations, and medical societies.

  • Provide recommendationsregardingprofessional fee schedules and service delivery models.

  • Participate in budget planning, monitoring, and resource allocation activities.

Quality & Performance Improvement

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with CARF standards, state regulations, federal requirements, and payer expectations.

  • Review patient satisfaction results andidentifyopportunities for service enhancements.

  • Address patient complaints related to medical services and support resolution efforts.

  • Monitor quality metrics, clinical outcomes, and documentation standards.

  • Promote continuous improvement andevidence-based practice throughout the organization.

Culture & Mission

  • Foster a supportive, collaborative, and patient-focused clinical environment.

  • Promote ethical medical practice and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard protected health information.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.

  • Current unrestricted physician license in the state of practice.

  • Board Certification in Family Medicine.

  • Current DEA registration.

  • Ability to obtain andmaintainlocal hospital admitting privileges.

  • Ability to meet andmaintainall Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer credentialing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of Medical Director experience.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a practicing physician.

  • Experience leading community health, primary care, or integrated healthcare programs.

  • Prior supervisory and provider management experience.

  • Experience with medical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, medical practice management, and clinical quality standards.

  • Understanding ofapplicable state, federal, accreditation, and payer requirements.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate healthcare programs and services.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record systems.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement.
