We're seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join our growing development team.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will personally manage a team of developers and test engineers to deliver on our corporate initiatives. You will help manage and mentor team members to grow their technical capabilities, provide technical guidance and architecture for our solutions, and collaborate with the business to ensure your team meets business.
What you'll do:
  • Lead and mentor a team of 5 developers and 2 test engineers: regular 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, career development plans, and promotion cases.
  • Support the team's operating cadence end to end, including planning, standups, and retrospectives, and own follow-through on retro action items.
  • Partner with the Director of Engineering to improve and expand existing engineering practices related to code review, DevOps, CI/CD, release management, QA, production readiness, operational support, and incident management.
  • Partner with product management on scope, sequencing, and estimation, and drive measurable improvement in how the team estimates and commits.
  • Use delivery and operational metrics to identify systemic bottlenecks and reliability risks.
  • Take ownership of production issues for your team's services: triage, incident response, and post-incident review.
  • Partner with the Director of Engineering on cross-team dependencies, staffing decisions, team and individual performance standards, and the technical direction of the platform.
  • Maintain a strong engineering culture that values technical excellence, practical problem solving, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client success.
  • Promote the responsible use of AI-enabled development tools for coding, testing, documentation, analysis, solution design, and delivery acceleration.
What will you bring to Zotec:
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent education and work experience
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a software development environment
  • Experience building or managing delivery of solutions using Python, C#, .NET, Angular, TypeScript, and SQL or equivalent technologies
  • High degree of professionalism and self-motivation
  • Strong leadership skills to support your team's efforts
  • Passion for leading teams to deliver quality solutions on time
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Flexible mentality; willing and capable of performing varied tasks and adapting to change
  • Self-starter, problem solver, solutions provider mentality with a move toward the problem
  • High attention to detail and adherence to established processes
Preferred
  • 3 or more years of management experience
  • Prior software architecture experience is a plus
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, particularly AWS
  • Agile experience including Scrum and Kanban
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and other automation practices
  • Experience or familiarity with microservices and event-driven architecture
  • Experience with OKR or other similar goal management system
  • Experience with tracking and improving code quality, security and productivity
