Position Summary

We are looking for a Design Engineering Manager for the site in Elkhart, IN.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design team to develop HVAC systems based on project requirements and customer specifications.
  • Release system components to achieve all performance, durability, and reliability targets.
  • Define HVAC component operating requirements to suppliers.
  • Develop test plans for reliability/performance of components and HVAC systems to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate development testing and hardware requirements, including component interfaces and measurement.
  • Contribute to project documentation, i.e., bill of materials (BOM), design for manufacturability (DFMA), design verification & validation reports (DVP\&R), and specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise for other functions (warranty, plant process, management).
  • Provide mechanical/electrical technical support to production and quality teams through the implementation of changes to equipment, tooling or processes.
  • Report functionally to the R&D Manager for any mechanical, thermal, thermodynamic or acoustic issues and/or enforcement of engineering guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in bus/automotive/HVAC systems design.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC system design principles, load calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Good organizational skills โ€“ selfโ€‘motivated, results oriented.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for presentations, reports, and interfacing internally and with customers.
  • Strong leadership skills and management experience to guide and develop junior engineering/design staff.
  • Experience with problemโ€‘solving and utilization of problemโ€‘solving tools.
