SCOPE:

The Engineering Systems Manager will lead the introduction, governance, and continuous improvement of engineering systems to support modular data center solutions and infrastructure business development in the United States. This role is responsible for establishing and managing core engineering data systems, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Bill of Materials (BOM), document control, and engineering change management processes. The position ensures alignment between engineering systems and enterprise platforms such as ERP, while maintaining global data standards and consistency across projects. The role will support the development and deployment of modular data center solutions, including power, cooling, and integrated systems, by enabling standardized engineering workflows, data integrity, and efficient cross-functional collaboration. Working closely with engineering, project, digital, and commercial teams, this position plays a key role in improving execution efficiency, scalability, and quality across the product lifecycle. This position collaborates with global stakeholders across Japan and the U.S. to align priorities, enable effective execution, and support MHIA's long-term business objectives

The ideal candidate will have at least twelve (12) years of experience in engineering systems, PLM, or product data management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engineering Systems Governance

  • Lead the implementation and governance of engineering systems, including PLM platforms, BOM structures, and document management systems.
  • Define and maintain standards, procedures, and best practices for engineering data management and system usage.
  • Ensure alignment and integration between engineering systems and enterprise ERP systems.

BOM & Product Data Management

  • Establish and manage structured BOM frameworks to support modular and scalable data center products.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and traceability across engineering and manufacturing systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to standardize product configurations and component structures.

Document Control & Data Integrity

  • Develop and maintain document control processes for engineering deliverables, specifications, and technical records.
  • Ensure proper version control, access management, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Support audit readiness and quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards).

Change Management

  • Define and manage engineering change management processes, including change requests, approvals, and implementation tracking.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and controlled execution of design changes.
  • Maintain traceability and historical records of engineering changes.

System Integration & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, system integration, and data utilization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and digitalization.
  • Support the adoption of digital tools and platforms across engineering and project teams.

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering, project management, procurement, manufacturing, and IT teams.
  • Support product development, project execution, and proposal activities through effective system and data management.
  • Facilitate communication between global teams and external stakeholders as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Requirement: B.A. or B.S. in Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Experience: Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in engineering systems, PLM, or product data management
  • Experience with engineering data systems and related processes such as PLM, ERP integration, document control, and engineering workflows
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, product lifecycle processes, configuration management, and engineering change control
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional environments
  • Proficiency with engineering and enterprise tools (PLM systems, ERP systems, MS Office, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in mission-critical industrial systems, infrastructure, or data center-related projects preferred
  • Experience implementing or managing PLM platforms (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE)
  • Familiarity with modular or prefabricated product systems
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO9001, etc.)
  • Experience in digital transformation or engineering process improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in global organizations or cross-cultural teams

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel: 10-25%
  • Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late-night work depending upon project needs
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk, and/or hear; Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
