Summary:
This role will lead a team of Clinical Engineers. Collaborate with VPs/Directors of Operations to advance patient care by applying engineering expertise to healthcare IT needs. This position will drive project plans, perform life cycle analysis of equipment, and create process improvement initiatives.
What you will do:
  • Oversee a team of Clinical Engineers who are responsible for developing a 5-year capital equipment plan (for existing amp; new operations) including:
    • Needs analysis/assessment model
    • An analysis of cost/benefit, total cost of ownership (TCO), return on investment (ROI)
    • Comparative evaluation of available technologies
    • Monitors medical device hazards/recalls reports and insures appropriate follow-up (communication, corrective action amp; documentation)
  • Partner with leadership stakeholders to review service options for major clinical systems to determine optimum service plan
  • Monitor regulatory developments and implement appropriate compliance measures (TJC, DNV, State amp; Local)
  • Support the CE team with complex investigations of incidents involving medical technology, analyze findings and implement or make recommendations for corrective measures including root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)
  • Conduct regular client surveys to assess the perceived effectiveness of clinical engineering services; analyze results and recommend appropriate service and process changes
  • Implement process improvements (both personal amp; program-related) that add value by improving quality, safety, savings, efficiency, work environment
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering or related area
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering and clinical systems support
  • Minimum of three (3) years of team management
  • Strong written and verbal communication and team building skills across functional areas. Effective role model
  • Demonstrated project management amp; planning skills
  • Certification (completed or in process) preferred in Clinical Engineering (i.e., Certified Clinical Engineer /CCE)

Safety Requirements:
  • Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the biomed area in accordance with the facility’s policies
  • Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices
  • On-time completion of safety training assignments
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot amp; cold ranges of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish colors
  • Must be able be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely
