We are seeking an experienced system engineer to lead the Houston Orion Test Lab facility, including:
  • Onsight oversight of operations personnel including staffing and performance reviews
  • Direct team on priorities and scheduling to support operations schedule
  • Support of maintaining lab certification
  • Work with Control Account Manager (CAM) to manage cost and schedule

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent engineering work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in anomaly troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an integrated hardware/software test environment
  • US Citizenship required to perform the task

  • Demonstrated knowledge of test processes and discipline
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance on priorities and tasking to a team
  • Familiarity with spacecraft architecture and avionics and ground subsystems (i.e., spacecraft and ground network, GN&C, telemetry and ground processing, displays and controls)
  • Automation Framework experience
  • Experience reading and working to mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
