Senior Engineering Manager, Software Systems

Allegion isseekinga highly collaborative and business-focused Senior Manager, Software Systems Engineering to play a critical integrator role across Global Software Solutions. In this senior leadership position, you will connect customer needs, business strategy, and technology execution to deliver scalable, secure, and differentiated access and security solutions across Allegion's brand portfolio.
This role goes beyond traditional systems engineering by emphasizing systems engineering as a business integrator-balancing customer experience, time-to-market, cost, quality, and technical risk in adynamicenvironment.You will lead global teams, shape system architecture and development practices, and enable flexibility and speed whilemaintainingengineering rigor.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as a senior systems engineering leader who integrates business strategy, customer requirements, and technical architecture across the Global Software Solutions portfolio.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Marketing, UX, Operations, Cybersecurity, and Engineering to translate market opportunities and customer needs into clear, actionable system requirements and architectures.
  • Lead global teams of software systems engineers, directly managing and mentoring engineeringmanagersand technical leaders, while building scalable systems engineering capability.
  • Establish and evolve systems engineering frameworks that enable flexibility, rapid iteration, and innovation whilemaintainingdisciplined requirements, architecture, and risk management practices.
  • Own system-level architecture and technical decision-making for complex, connected solutions spanning embedded software, cloud services, mobile applications, and integrations.
  • Lead and direct the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) governing body, ensuring secure-by-design principles are consistently applied without slowing execution.
  • Partner with program and business leaders to balance scope, cost, schedule, and risk across multi-team, multi-year initiatives, providing clear trade-off analyses to support decision-making.
  • Oversee portfolio-level risk management, proactivelyidentifyingtechnical, integration, security, and delivery risks early and driving mitigation strategies.
  • Lead Technical Design Reviews across product development milestones, clearly communicating system readiness, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Evaluate and present system design trade-offs, aligning performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost with Allegion's business priorities and customer value propositions.
  • Ensure clearrequirementsdefinition, traceability, and verification strategies that support fast learning cycles and high-quality outcomes.
  • Champion data-driven problem solving and continuous improvement, using root-cause analysis and systems thinking to resolve complex, cross-functional challenges.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for strategic customers and partners,representingAllegion with confidence and credibility.
  • Develop talent through coaching, feedback, and career development, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, curiosity, and innovation.
  • Identifyand remove systemic barriers to execution, sponsor change initiatives, and evolve ways of working to support business growth and agility.
  • Model transparent communication, strong judgment, and ownership, influencing outcomes across organizational boundaries.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineeringor a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or software-intensive product development (IoT, access control, consumer electronics, automotive, industrial, or adjacent industries).
  • 5+ years ofpeopleleadership experience, including leading other managers and building high-performing global teams.
  • Demonstratedexpertisein systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements management, architecture definition, trade-off analysis, traceability, and verification & validation strategies.
  • Strong ability tooperateat the intersection of engineering, product, and business-connecting technical decisions to customer value and financial outcomes.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-team programs with competing priorities in fast-moving environments.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity practices and SSDLC leadership.
  • Experience with cloud architectures (AWS, Azure), connected products, wireless technologies (WiFi, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Z-Wave), and mobile applications.
  • Preferred: Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP).
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and organizational leadership skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and support executive decision-making.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

  • The expected Base Salary Range: $154,450-$205,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
