Process Project Engineer: The Impact You’ll Have On The Organization and World

  • You’ll define, plan, lead and execute key non-capital and capital assignments. 
  • You will collaborate with site personnel and key technical resources to provide process and project engineering services. 
  • You will provide insights and expertise from analysis of process operating data, hands-on troubleshooting, and interaction with other personnel in operations, maintenance, engineering, or R&D.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:

  • Develop safe, predictable, and reliable processes.
  • Apply and define standard engineering design practices.
  • Participate in or lead process risk/hazard reviews.
  • Participate in or lead incident review and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in management of change.
  • Assist in definition and execution of the capital plan.
  • Define conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design packages, including process control functional descriptions.
  • Manage internal and external engineering services used to prepare preliminary or detailed project packages for funding submission or construction.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new or modified site assets.
  • Facilitate and lead project stage gate reviews.
  • Obtain financial approval for assigned projects
  • Facilitate reliability reviews when needed.
  • Select preferred equipment or contract services through bid analysis
  • Provide peer review and recommended practices.
  • Complete regular status reporting and work prioritization.

What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):

  • BS, Chemical Engineering and 5 years’ experience in Chemical Process Industries as process or project engineer, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge and application of recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices for chemical process plant design and operation involving flammable liquids and gases, combustible dust, toxic or reactive materials, pressure relief systems, and instrumented functional safety.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft tools, including database structures and SharePoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 35-40%.

Preferred: 

  • Strong working knowledge and use of Aveva PI.
  • Knowledge of process simulation software.
