DEPARTMENT: TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS

REPORTS TO: SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (MANAGER)

Compensation: $65,000 to $85,000

OVERVIEW:

The Systems Engineer 1 helps to perform project estimates for the organization under the guidance of Systems Engineer 2, Senior Systems Engineer (Manager), and Preconstruction Manager.

The System Engineer 1 is responsible for estimation takeoffs, assisting with development of proposals by reviewing specifications and plans, accurately preparing estimates for materials, labor, logistics, and assembling a thorough Estimation Package, all under the guidance of Systems Engineer 2 & Senior Systems Engineer (Manager). Direct communication with manufacturers and vendors as it relates to projects (after initial guidance from Systems Engineer 2 & Senior Systems Engineer). Gathers bidding information to assist the Systems Engineer 2 and 3 to qualify the opportunity. The Systems Engineer 1 studies plans, engineering drawings, site surveys, project scope; reads specifications; identifies inconsistencies and errors between the plans and specifications. Is assigned time limits and priorities on each individual Estimation Request from the Systems Engineer Manager; works with the pre-construction team to obtain proper clarifications from the client or vendor; designs systems as necessary and assists engineering on any needs or situations that arise during the engineering process related to equipment or design. Support preconstruction team and peers (Systems Engineer 2, Senior (Manager), and Preconstruction Managers). Support operational team in construction administration process (Provide direction and support to PM’s, PE’s, & Craft).

Specific Responsibilities

• Support preconstruction managers with solution selling into prospect account base.

• Be Safe - Safety is our number one priority

• Follow company and client worksite practices and policies

• Review drawings for accuracy and completeness

• Review and understand the specifications and maintain compliance

• Capability to upload and download documents from document share sites

• Follow company direction on preferred selection of vendors and products

• Work with vendors to obtain the best solution, the most competitive price and proper lead-time on materials

• Attend site walks and preconstruction meetings as required

• Experience in understanding what system components is needed to make up a fully functioning system. Perform layouts when conceptual budget development and coordination with the electrical team is necessary

• Perform full take-offs, counting devices and equipment, entering information into the estimating system

• Develop Technology Solutions preconstruction and project schedule as part of our proposal response

• May participate in vendor selections, scope leveling subcontractor bids, reviews accuracy and completeness

• Attend and participate in turnover & job kickoff meetings, with operations staff as required, to cover all details and expectations of project as they were estimated

• Always meet deadlines, sometimes working within a very strict timeframe

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a minimum of two years of industry experience along with a career path for the individual and growth mindset to develop / mentor / train your replacement as you move in your career within Encore Technology Solutions with a baseline knowledge of various aspects of technology / low voltage systems of audio visual, structured cabling, security video surveillance / access control, and other systems. AVIXA/BICSI or manufacturer certifications are a plus along with Jetbuilt, other estimating software, CAD, Bluebeam and/or Visio experience. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in a related field and/or attendance or completion in a technology curriculum in a program is preferred. A minimum of two years of progressive experience in the technology trade is a plus. Experience may be supplemented by a construction management degree or extensive adjacent business experience.
