Faith Technologies Inc. (FTI) is currently seeking aSenior Engineer, Systems to join our Product Engineering team inMenasha, WI.

As a Systems Engineer specializing in technology and architecture development for microgrid components and power distribution for data centers, you will spearhead the development and commissioning of model-based systems engineering simulations to conceptualize architecture and define technology development requirements. Your role will encompass the selection and sizing of power generation and power electronic components and the definition of controls software functionality. This position demands a keen understanding of microgrid technologies and power distribution systems to ensure innovative and efficient solutions.

You will coordinate and collaborate with internal engineering teams, as well as external third-party agencies as needed. Working across all engineering functions, this role requires an engineer who possesses a diverse skillset and is willing to understand the details of component and system functionality in multiple different fields. This position works cross functionally to define system and component level requirements and guide the technology roadmap in response to market and product strategy and direction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent

Experience: 5+ years of experience in systems engineering

  • Strong understanding of power electronics, power distribution system architecture, power generation components for microgrids (fuel cell, genset, solar arrays), energy storage systems (HV batteries), controls software architecture
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear recommendations and guidelines to stakeholders, technical development teams, testing teams
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience in product risk assessment & risk mitigation
  • Reliability, Safety
  • DFMEA/FMEA background
  • Experience with requirement management tools including JAMA, DOORS, CAMEO, Jira, or similar tools

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in power converter certifications (e.g. UL1741, IEEE1547, CSA C22.2, VDE DIN-AR-4105, AS/NS 4777, G98 EN50549)
  • Experience in battery energy storage system certifications (e.g. UL1973, UL1642, IEC62619, UL9540, UL9540A)
  • Experience with switchboard certifications (e.g. UL891)
  • Product safety experience in relation to risk assessments, safety standards, and regulations
  • Experience with CSA and CE standards.
  • MBSE experience using SysML, Mathworks tools, or similar
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience with Risk Register, Risk Mitigation and TRL assessment
  • Background in Power Electronic Reliability, Safety & Cybersecurity

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

This role requires work to be done Onsite from our Menasha, WI office. Our onsite roles include a high level of workplace and schedule flexibility to support a healthy work-life balance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrate market and product strategy into technology and systems architecture, component and system requirements, and development strategy plan for new technology and product development with application to renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, and data center markets
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop hardware and controls software integration requirements
  • Leverage simulation and analysis-led design ecosystem to drive technology decisions
  • Commission and leverage system-level performance simulation to drive technology and future product decisions and optimize system performance and efficiency
  • Lead development of DFMEA processes for product and technology functions at the system and component level
  • Commission and collaborate with testing teams to verify and validate component and system performance and functionality
  • Support R&D development and verification activities according to requirements, both on bench and test cell facilities
  • Conduct top-down functional analysis and create detailed requirements, performance design criteria, architecture diagrams, logical diagrams, specifications
  • Lead development of risk registry, risk management and risk mitigation plan
  • Assess TRL level for key technologies and key critical elements.
  • Assess Project path to target against key requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
