Our name says it all: Together We Deliver.What Youโ€™ll DoAs an Intermediate/Senior Cost Controller, you will be responsible for the accurate monitoring, forecasting, and reporting of project costs across all phases of engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) projects. You will work closely with project managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, Planners, Procurement Specialists, and Finance teams to ensure project cost performance aligns with budgets, contractual obligations, and corporate standards. Your role is critical in supporting cost transparency and enabling proactive financial decision-making on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Project Controls is a key forward looking process.ย  Our ideal cost controller is plugged into the business, is able to understand the technical elements of the project while proactively helping to control costs, identify and manage changes, risks and support execution activities so that deviations are effectively managed to maintain baseline cost and schedule or adjust with justified changes that we can take to and successfully manage with our clients while maintaining a target profile on any given project. This position is based out of our Burlington, ON office location.ย 
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Control
  • Develop and maintain detailed project cost control systems, including cost breakdown structures, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor actual costs against budgets, track commitments, and report on variances, trends, and cost drivers.
  • Manage and track changes to the project scope, ensuring all cost impacts are assessed and integrated into forecasts.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the development of initial project budgets and ensure alignment with approved estimates and execution strategies.
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasts by incorporating actual expenditures, committed costs, and anticipated future expenses.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide narrative explanations for deviations from budget or previous forecasts.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Produce regular cost control reports, dashboards, and project status summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely input into corporate and client reporting requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive and auditable cost records in accordance with corporate standards and project requirements.
Change Management
  • Evaluate and quantify cost impacts of change orders, scope changes, and trend notices.
  • Coordinate with project teams to validate changes and ensure cost implications are integrated into forecasts and approvals.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with project managers, planners, procurement, and finance to validate cost data and assumptions.
  • Participate in regular project control meetings, contributing cost performance insights and recommendations.
  • Support project close-out by preparing final cost reports, lessons learned, and reconciliations.
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and contractual requirements related to cost control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in cost management tools, templates, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Intermediate Role: 4โ€“9 years of experience in cost control within the construction or EPCM industry.
  • Senior Role: 10+ years of progressive experience in cost control on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficient in the use of cost management and project control software (e.g., Excel, cost control systems, ERP platforms).
  • Solid understanding of project cost control principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex cost data and provide clear insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
