Founded in 2016, CMC is a full-service General Contractor firm which provides services such as construction management, design-build, and project management and manages projects with industry-leading innovation. Ranked in the Top 25 General Contractors that are minority, CMC is responsible for over $50 million in construction in a variety of projects including commercial, civil, and development in Texas.


The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships that generate new business opportunities for CMC Development & Construction. This position serves as a strategic ambassador for the company, focusing on client engagement, market intelligence, lead generation, pursuit planning, and relationship management within CMC's target markets, including education, healthcare, municipal, commercial, public safety, and civil construction.

The Business Development Manager works closely with Operations, Preconstruction, and Executive Leadership to position CMC for successful project pursuits and long-term client partnerships.


Responsibilities include:

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute regional business development plans aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities within target markets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Generate qualified leads and transition opportunities through the sales pipeline.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and project interviews.
  • Develop and maintain capture plans for key clients and upcoming projects.
  • Monitor public and private project opportunities and market trends.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and strategic partners.
  • Maintain regular communication with existing and prospective clients.
  • Coordinate client appreciation events, networking functions, and industry engagement activities.
  • Represent CMC at industry conferences, trade shows, community events, and professional organizations.
  • Maintain detailed records of client interactions and opportunities within the CRM system.

Pursuit & Proposal Support

  • Coordinate with Preconstruction and Operations teams during project pursuits.
  • Participate in Go/No-Go decisions and pursuit strategy meetings.
  • Assist with proposal development, interview preparation, and presentation strategy.
  • Gather client intelligence and competitive market information.
  • Support development of qualifications packages and marketing materials.

Strategic Planning

  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity.
  • Identify emerging markets and growth opportunities.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and pipeline reports to leadership.
  • Assist in annual business planning and revenue forecasting efforts.


Qualifications
