  • Due to an upcoming retirement, we're seeking a Controller to take ownership of our financial operations and help guide the company through its next phase of growth. This is a high-impact leadership role where you'll oversee day-to-day accounting while partnering with leadership on strategy, forecasting, and performance.

  • The ideal candidate brings a strong background in construction accounting, understands percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead all core accounting functions: A/R (billing), A/P, payroll, and general ledger

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (GAAP), including reconciliations and multi-entity reporting

  • Oversee percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and support quarterly distribution planning

  • Ensure timely billing, collections, and accruals

  • Oversee payroll processing and tax/statutory reporting (monthly, quarterly, year-end)

  • Maintain and optimize job costing systems (NAV) and timekeeping systems (TimeClock Plus)

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and insights

  • Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making and growth initiatives

  • Lead annual audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors

  • Serve as 401(k) co-trustee and support benefits-related financial oversight

  • Assist with IT coordination alongside external vendors as needed

  • Hire, mentor, and develop an Assistant Controller to ensure team depth and continuity

What We're Looking For:

  • CPA or EA License (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership/supervision

  • Public accounting background (2-4 years of audit experience preferred)

  • Strong expertise in construction accounting and POC revenue recognition

  • Experience with multi-entity reporting and consolidations (preferred)

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Sage Intacct (preferred)

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (based on experience)

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package:

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Life, AD&D, and disability coverage

  • Paid time off

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Employee assistance program

  • Cell phone reimbursement

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Succession opportunity-step into a key leadership role due to retirement

  • High visibility with direct impact on financial strategy and operations

  • Blend of hands-on accounting + strategic leadership

  • Opportunity to modernize systems and improve processes

  • Stable company with strong growth potential

The Bottom Line:

This is more than a Controller role-it's an opportunity to own the financial function, influence business decisions, and help shape the future of a growing construction organization.
